Category: book Nook
evening all,
Well, my curiosity is arroused about something. I have been on the gutenberg site for the last few evenings, and I must say, they do have a huge varietyof books, but there was also a book called the art of zen and the internet, or zen and the internet, or something like it, and I was just wondering, I mean, I thought all those books were very old, at least a hundred years old, or from the early 19th century, so how can they have a book about the internet on that sight? The internet hasn't been around that long, why even computers haven't even been around that long, so I found it surprising they could have even one book about the internet. Can anyone shed light on this?

How random! I've no idea, but am curious now! Lol...
yes Caitlin, I thought it was odd. I thought sights like gutenberg had only old classic stuff on it. I even saw one written by Richard Nixon, on his first inaugrual address, and that was only as far back as the 70's. It has a lot of good stuff on it though, horror, ghost stories by ambrose bierce, alternon blackwood, and J Sheridan Le fanu. I didn't know there were so many short story collections. I've just been browsing by author from a to z. I haven't been all the way through each letter, it would take all night just to browse through the a's, but I browse part way through, and just finished browsing through the n's, part way. Since there aren't many more replies to my posts, think I'll go and browse through the o's, and a few more letters. I've already read 34 more pages of the abandoned room by wadsworth camp, and am up to page 104, chapter 5.

Project Gutenberg has books that are out of copyright, or books that the author has given permission for them to post for any number of reasons. Maybe the author likes the site and wants them to have the book, maybe he just wants more people to read his work. Maybe nobody will publish, and this is his only way to get a readership.
Project gutenberg isn't confined to classic literature, but to whatever is not under copyright. Anything that is in the public domain can be on gutenberg. It may seem that they are only publishing older material on there, but this is because the copyright on this material has expired.
Thanks Kc, I was a bit confused at the time. I'll have to go and read it sometime, the problem is, I can't for the life of me remember the author, and when I try and type a title in the title field, if I didn't type an author in the author edit field, it doesn't find anything. it says title word or word title in the field where you type a book title, so I'm not sure if it means you just type one or 2 key words. maybe I'll just type zen, or internet and see what it comes up with. right now, I'm reading the abandoned room by wadsworth camp, and I'm up to page 104.
It's a mystery, one of your old fashioned gothic type, they sure don't make them like that anymore.
